Issues > Bogus Birtherism

Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, expresses disappointment in the bogus birther attacks that have been injected into the presidential dialogue. The organization’s co-founder encourages candidates to focus on the issues important to conservative activists, such as dismal economic growth and the increasing size and intrusiveness of the federal government.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “It’s expected that candidates will look to draw clearer contrasts as the primary elections approach. However, those contrasts should focus on policies that encourage fiscal responsibility, economic growth and the restoration of America’s role as the world leader.

“It is unambiguously clear that Ted Cruz is completely qualified to serve as President of the United States. The important issues facing America’s future should be the determining factor in selecting our next President, not extraneous topics that lack merit.

“When politicians use incidental issues to advance their campaign, it creates the perception – if not the reality – that they don’t have anything important to say on what really matters. That’s why in 2008 Hillary Clinton tried to use the birther issue against Barack Obama. Bogus attacks and insinuations do nothing to advance conservatism and only distract from the important, issue-based contrasts that should be at the forefront,” Russo concluded.
