Meet Matt Schultz, Candidate for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District

Tea Party Express has endorsed Iowa’s Secretary of State, Matt Schultz, in his bid for the U.S. House of Representatives for the 3^rd Congressional District.  We believe this steadfast conservative will fight to cut taxes, rein in out-of-control spending and work to balance the nation’s budget exactly as he has done in his home state.

Meet Matt Schultz

Matt Schultz was voted in as the youngest Secretary of State in Iowa’s history, as well as in our country’s history, in 2010.  He received his degree in political science from the University of Iowa and his law degree from the Creighton University School of Law.

He first entered politics in 2005 when he was elected to a councilman position and served there for five years.  “During law school, my family and I were living in Council Bluffs and we knew that even on the local level – taxes were too high and spending was too much,” Matt explained.  “So, with the support of my family, I decided to run for City Council to try and make a difference.”

Rally around the issues

As Matt enters the national stage, it’s important to note his work and accomplishments during his tenure in public service.  Matt fought to cut over $1,000,000 dollars from the city’s budget his very first year in office. He continued to fight for conservative fiscal policies and “efficiency in government.”

Matt believes now is the time to stand up for our ideals to preserve a prosperous country for our children.  “President Obama is threatening to use executive orders and bypass Congress to unilaterally push through his liberal agenda,” Matt wrote. “Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi sits at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, plotting her way back to the Speaker’s Office. Between their lies about ObamaCare and their abuse of power it is clear that Washington does not understand real life problems, and the President will not follow the rule of law. Simply put – Washington is broken,” he said.

Matt also fought for election integrity in Iowa by cracking down on voter fraud and supported those Iowans serving in the military by ensuring their votes counted by easing the process for active duty members.
