ICYMI: President Obama Rejects Compromise

Rhetoric on “This Week” indicative of his unwillingness to lead

Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is turning up the heat on President Obama, targeting his hypocrisy on compromise and his continued failure to lead an economic recovery.

Tea Party Express’ Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “President Obama’s continued uncompromising comments on fiscal issues are outrageous. He sits there pointing the finger at Republicans for not compromising, yet on every key fiscal issue, he bluntly remarks, ‘I will not negotiate.’ He has shown an unwillingness to lead any bipartisan effort that includes meaningful concessions from him. His ‘my way or the highway’ approach had consistently polarized Congress – it is definitely not a quality of a leader.

“On the other hand, you have Tea Party conservative Congressman Tom Graves who is trying to break through the Continuing Resolution gridlock by drafting the Stability, Security and Fairness Resolution. This compromise continues President Obama’s deficit spending, but delays Obamacare until 2015. While we find the spending disdainful, we applaud Graves in taking a bold step to try to find some middle ground that keeps the government open, while delaying Obamacare that has been facing bipartisan objection for both being harmful and unready for primetime.

“The President has a duty to lead our country down a path that makes us stronger as a nation. Yet, he is ignoring the realities of Obamacare. Even some of the legislation’s biggest proponents have switched their tune as of late, realizing the painful realities of this legislation. It is time for the President and his party to abandon their pursuit of an uncompromisingly partisan agenda and join the Tea Party in meaningful compromise.

“There are bi-partisan solutions that can be reached, but unlike the false narrative might lead you to believe, it’s only the Tea Party that is seated at the negotiating table,” Russo concluded.
