Tea Party Express Endorses Pete Hoekstra for U.S. Senate

Battle Creek, MI – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest tea party political action committee, has announced their strong endorsement of Pete Hoekstra for the U.S. Senate today in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, “We are excited to be here to endorse Pete Hoekstra for the U.S. Senate. Michigan conservatives were lucky to have a number of terrific options during the primary, and we are proud to stand with Pete after his strong primary victory. We are fully committed to defeating Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Pete is ready to do just that.

“Last year we named Senator Stabenow as one of our priority targets for the U.S. Senate. Her down-the-line liberal voting record is out-of-touch with the people of Michigan, while the people here have been suffering from such a weak economy. It was never made more evident than when she cast the deciding vote for Obamacare – the biggest federal overreach in our nation’s history – that raids over $700 billion from Medicare.

“She has been more concerned with regulating how hens hatch their eggs with the $969 billion Farm Bill than passing a budget. The Senate has failed to even pass a budget for the last three years. At a time of excessive spending and unsustainable debt, that is inexcusable. It’s time for Debbie to go.

“Hoekstra is a proven leader in Congress that is serious about reducing the size, cost, and intrusiveness of the federal government. What Pete understands and Debbie fails to grasp is that the money that Washington spends belongs to the taxpayers, not the politicians. In order to get this country back on track, we must pass a balanced budget – something Pete has done four times while serving on the House Budget Committee. However, cuts alone will not get us out of this mess; we also need to create a business-friendly environment that gives our country the opportunity to grow. That means reforming the tax code, something Pete has shown leadership in trying to accomplish while he was in D.C.

“This is going to be an election about directions. The current Reid-Stabenow direction follows Greece off the fiscal cliff and indebts our nation to countries like China. The other direction follows a path blazed by Pete Hoekstra and the new tea party-Senate that will rein in the out-of-control spending and eliminate the job-killing regulations,” Kremer concluded.
