ELECTION ALERT: Tea Party Express Endorses Senator Cory Gardner in Colorado

For Immediate Release: September 28, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA: Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest Tea Party political action committee, is pleased to announce its endorsement of Senator Cory Gardner for reelection in Colorado.

Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo said, “Senator Cory Gardner is a commonsense conservative with a record of reaching across the aisle to develop solutions to some of Colorado’s most pressing problems. America’s future is at stake in this crucial election year, and we need more leaders like him in Washington fighting to recharge our economy and clean up the dysfunction and corruption that permeates our nation’s Capital today. Cory has been one of the most effective legislators in D.C. and has earned the respect and admiration of people across the political spectrum. Colorado needs this outstanding legislator to stay on the job.

“A fifth generation Coloradan who grew up working in his family’s business, Farmers Implement Company, Senator Gardner is intimately aware of the issues Colorado’s families, ranchers, and small businesses face each day. In both Washington and Denver, he has fought to grow the state’s economy through lower taxes, government reforms, and infrastructure improvements that allow businesses to thrive and workers to keep more of their hard-earned dollars. He also led the effort to relocate the Bureau of Land Management to Colorado so it could be closer to the people it regulates and issues it handles instead of being chummy with Washington insiders and bureaucrats. That’s the sort of bold leadership Coloradans expect from their U.S. Senator .

“John Hickenlooper likes to portray himself as an independent moderate, yet his record of toeing the Democratic Party line suggests otherwise. Colorado has seen this before, where candidates talk a moderate game in the state, but go back to Washington and become enmeshed in adhering to the liberal line.

“Four years ago, Hickenlooper demanded that the Senate “honor its constitutional responsibilities” by confirming a new Supreme Court justice before a presidential election. Now that he is running for the Senate, he has changed his tune to please the Washington establishment. Since Republicans control the Senate and the White House, Hickenlooper has decided that the constitutional mandate that the President shall appoint to fill a vacancy doesn’t matter. Now he opposes swiftly filling the vacancy left by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. He has even expressed support for packing the court with left wing ideologues, an outrageous move that his partisan supporters like Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer say is on the table. Coloradans just can’t trust that Hickenlooper is who he says he is and will be loyal once elected, but they will always know where Senator Gardner stands – firmly on the side of the people of Colorado,” Russo concluded.
